Dear Sag Harbor Neighbors...

Dear Neighbors,

We have GOOD NEWS!

As of June 11, 2024, the application for the proposed cell tower at 23 Redwood Road (WLNG) has been withdrawn.

While we don't yet know if this is a permanent decision on the part of the property owners, we do know that the application in its current form has been officially withdrawn - which is very much thanks to the efforts of this community.

The withdrawal was confirmed at last night's Sag Harbor Village Board of Trustees regular meeting, per the following agenda item:

"Incorporated Village of Sag Harbor Resolution to Accept Letter from Amato Law Group Withdrawing the application for the proposed Communication Facility at 23 Redwood Road.

Resolved, The Board of Trustees of the Village of Sag Harbor hereby accepts the letter dated on May 23, 2024, from Amato Law Group on behalf of Verizon Wireless formally withdrawing the proposed public utility wireless communication facility located at 23 Redwood Road, Sag Harbor, New York, SCTM 0903-2-1-40; and be it further

Resolved, that pursuant to the withdrawal request, the Clerk is hereby directed to close the file on this matter."

At the meeting, Mayor Tom Gardella stated: "What I understand is that WLNG is done with proposing a cell tower there. Well, from this group. There's still the question of the [radio] tower that's there. That needs to be replaced, and that's something that we're gonna have to look into or they should at least apply, I would think, just for the tower for the station. It's tough because of the location."

The Trustees then voted unanimously to support the withdrawal of the application.

Your support - in the form of letters, donations, volunteer hours, and more - helped to make this outcome possible by enabling us to mount a vigorous information campaign... including this website, the printing and distribution of thousands of flyers and postcards, and most importantly, ongoing consultations with and guidance from our attorney throughout the process.

Should any new developments on this issue arise, we will of course continue to keep you posted.

Meanwhile, thank you for your support. Our efforts have paid off!
